Eighteen months into our Horizon Europe journey, FLEETfor55 is accelerating on every front. Our third newsletter brings together the project’s latest achievements — from major international events to new publications, governance milestones, and fresh communication campaigns.
On the Ground Across Europe and Beyond
FLEETfor55 has been making its voice heard on the global stage. At Posidonia 2026 in Athens, the coordination team delivered a dedicated pitch at the American Bureau of Shipping booth and co-hosted an Open Day on innovative design concepts for maritime decarbonisation alongside sister project SEASTARS. At the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 in Budapest, the project was featured at the Waterborne stand, engaging with Europe’s leading transport research and innovation community. The project also participated in events in Augusta, Brussels, Seoul, and is set to take the stage at LSSTF 2026 in Hamburg.
New Publication in Energy Strategy Reviews
The FLEETfor55 consortium announces a new peer-reviewed paper published in Energy Strategy Reviews, led by NTNU’s Department of Marine Technology. The study presents a systematic review and taxonomy pathway for Energy Efficiency Technologies (EETs) in waterborne transport, offering a decision-support framework for policy, investment, and operational appraisal.
Governance & Network Milestones
The project reached two significant internal milestones: the official launch of its External Advisory Board (EAB) and its Technologies Innovation Network (TIN) — both designed to strengthen industry-driven governance and accelerate the uptake of EETs across the maritime sector.
New Campaigns: BehindTheScenes & TECHTalks
Two new communication initiatives are now live. BehindTheScenes is a LinkedIn video pill series capturing genuine moments and spontaneous insights from General Assemblies and project events. TECHTalks is an upcoming expert interview series bringing together maritime, academic, and technology voices to explore the technical realities of fleet decarbonisation.
