Navigating towards a greener future in waterborne transport

Developing a holistic roadmap that identifies the most cost effective and sustainable implementation of Energy Efficiency Technologies (EETs) onboard vessels to align European waterborne transport with the Fit 55 environmental EU goals by 2030.

KEY GOAL

Reduce GHG intensity by 55% by 2030, aligning with FuelEU Maritime targets.

FOCUS

11 market-ready use cases (7 retrofits, 4 new designs) for short sea and ocean-going vessels, and inland waterways transport (IWT).

TOOLS

Open-source Design Assessment & Operations Tool (DAT) and Decision Support System (DSS).

Advancing Maritime Sustainability Through Energy Efficiency Technologies

Welcome to FLEETfor55 – a groundbreaking 42-month project under Horizon Europe aimed at revolutionizing maritime transport. Launched to support the EU’s “Fit for 55” package, FLEETfor55 seeks to create market ready use cases to reduce to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and enhance energy efficiency in waterborne transport by 2030. With a consortium across Europe, we’re defining the best possible combination of state-of-the-art Energy Efficiency Technologies (EETs) for ship design and retrofitting, targeting a sustainable maritime future.
