The FLEETfor55 consortium marked a significant milestone on March 6th with the official kickoff of its Technologies Innovation Network (TIN) — a new extended external board dedicated to advancing Energy Efficiency Technologies (EETs) in the maritime sector.

The TIN brings together EET providers under a structured knowledge-sharing platform designed to foster collaboration, accelerate technology deployment, and connect innovative solutions with real-world end users across vessel designs and retrofits.

At its core, the network serves three key functions: facilitating the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge between consortium members and industry partners, matching EET providers with the shipowners and operators best positioned to apply them, and driving tangible progress toward the European Union’s Fit for 55 decarbonisation agenda.

The TIN will also work closely with FLEETfor55’s External Advisory Board (EAB) through joint clustering events and workshops, ensuring that industry expertise directly informs the network’s direction and priorities.

The initiative is closely aligned with broader international decarbonisation frameworks, including the IMO’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Strategy and the Zero Emission Waterborne Transport (ZEWT) objectives — collectively charting a course toward a cleaner, more sustainable maritime future.

With the shipping industry under increasing pressure to reduce its carbon footprint, the launch of TIN represents a concrete step toward translating policy ambition into operational reality — one vessel at a time.
